The Institute for Laser Medicine teaches its Comprehensive Laser Training at 2 classrooms in Pennsylvania: its own med spa in Skippack, 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia, and a hotel conference room in Pittsburgh. Classes are capped at 6 to 8 students. Over 3 days you earn 24 CNE credits and treat live models in 5 laser modalities: laser hair removal, PhotoFacial (IPL) for melasma and hyperpigmentation, skin rejuvenation, acne and rosacea treatment, and fractional skin resurfacing. Skippack or Pittsburgh: How to Choose
Skippack is ILM’s headquarters and the home of this course. The class meets at 4092 Skippack Pike, Skippack, PA 19474, inside the med spa where ILM’s instructors treat their own clients, and it carries most of the dates, listed below. If you live in eastern Pennsylvania, this is usually your closer choice, and it is the only one where you train in a working practice.
Pittsburgh is ILM’s western Pennsylvania classroom. The class meets in a hotel conference room in the Pittsburgh area, with ILM’s lasers and instructors brought in for the 3 days; the next Pittsburgh session is listed below. If you are in Allegheny County or the counties around it, or in eastern Ohio or northern West Virginia, Pittsburgh is the closer classroom.
The course, the tuition, the 24 CNE credits, and the certificate are identical in both cities. Wherever you train, the complimentary shadow day and apprenticeship hours you earn by graduating are held in Skippack.
What the 3 Days Cover
ILM does not teach laser hair removal as a stand-alone class in Pennsylvania. It is 1 of 5 modalities in a single 3-day certification, alongside IPL PhotoFacial for melasma and hyperpigmentation, non-ablative skin rejuvenation, laser treatment of acne and rosacea, and fractional resurfacing. When your client books hair removal and then asks about her sun damage, you can say yes.
You do the theory online and at your own pace before the class: laser physics, tissue interaction, and safety and regulatory requirements, about 6 to 8 hours for most students. Your 3 in-person days are almost entirely hands-on, on live models, with clinical-grade equipment and an instructor beside you.
