Meet Sarah — ILM Graduate & Owner of Forte Faces (Conshohocken, PA)
+ Read Sarah's story
Sarah trained at ILM in 2018 and is now co-founder and owner of Forte Faces, a medical aesthetic and wellness practice in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. After completing ILM's injectable training she landed her first med spa role, later worked alongside a plastic surgeon, and eventually opened her own practice — which she has now owned for three years. She points to ILM's hands-on, live-model training as what set the program apart from other schools.
"Not only were we able to learn didactic in the classroom, we were able to apply it to a patient directly after… If you're a nurse trying to get away from the bedside or start a career in aesthetics, I highly recommend ILM."
— Sarah, Owner, Forte Faces
Hi, I'm Sarah. I am co-founder and owner at Forte Faces in Conshohocken. Upon my completion of the ILM course, I landed my first job at a med spa. I worked there for several years and then decided I wanted to further my career, so I started working side by side with a plastic surgeon. All of that experience over those years led me to opening my own practice. Forte Faces is a medical aesthetic and wellness practice, and I think what sets us apart is our patient experience and our provider education. One of the things that stood out to me about ILM in comparison to other schools was the hands-on training — not only were we able to learn didactic in the classroom, we were able to apply it to a patient directly after. I took classes at ILM back in 2018. Now it is 2026 and I have been the proud co-owner of Forte Faces for three years. If you're a nurse trying to get away from the bedside or start a career in aesthetics, I highly recommend ILM. Their program has evolved even since I was there in 2018 and now includes shadow days, apprenticeship, and continued support throughout your entire career.
Meet Rebekah — ILM Graduate & Owner of Blume House of Aesthetics & Wellness
+ Read Rebekah's story
Rebekah is the owner of Blume House of Aesthetics and Wellness. Before training with ILM, she worked as a geriatrics nurse at a local hospital. Drawn to aesthetics by its focus on wellness and building patients' confidence, she chose ILM for its long-established reputation, CEU-accredited training, and boutique small classes with hands-on, one-on-one instruction. She credits ILM's passionate instructors for making the training both enjoyable and rewarding.
"Change doesn't come from a comfortable place. It comes when you are willing to step out and grow."
— Rebekah, Owner, Blume House of Aesthetics & Wellness
My name is Rebekah, and I'm the owner of Blume House of Aesthetics and Wellness. Before training with ILM, I was a nurse at a local hospital working in geriatrics. What inspired me to get into aesthetics is the focus on wellness and the individual — building confidence in people. I love it when they come see me and I get to educate them and make them feel more confident about themselves. The reason I chose ILM for my training is that they're well established; they've been around for a long time. They give CEUs for their training, and they have boutique small classes where we get hands-on with one-on-one instructors. The instructors at ILM make class fun. You can tell that they're very passionate about what they do and they love to teach, so it just makes it more enjoyable and you get so much out of it. If you're a nurse considering ILM, I just want to encourage you to get out there and try it. Step away from the bedside. Change doesn't come from a comfortable place — it comes when you are willing to step out and grow.

The course is not the test. The test is your first paying client. What matters then is whether your hands already know what to do, and whether you can hold the room while they do it.
Everything at ILM is built backwards from that day. You train in person, on live models, in classes capped at six to twelve students, which means you are the one performing the treatment and someone experienced is there to correct you while it still matters. There is no online-only option, and nothing you practice on is silicone. Nearly 20 years of medical professionals and licensed aestheticians have chosen that trade-off, and graduates have gone on to run practices of their own.
Where you can start depends on your license, and for laser work, on your state. Injectable courses are limited to licensed medical professionals. Laser and skin courses are open more widely, though what you are permitted to perform afterward varies from state to state, sometimes considerably. Each section below sets out the requirements, and if yours are unclear, ask Admissions to check before you book anything.
Injectable Training for Licensed Medical Professionals
Eligibility Requirement: These programs are only available to registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates, dentists, doctors, and physicians. Proof of credentials will be required to enroll.
- 2-Day Botox & Filler Training. Our most popular option, and the one most students wish they’d booked first. Essential and Advanced run back to back: one cohort, one instructor, one continuous arc from foundation to correction. 15.5 CNE credits.
- Essential Injection Training. Your first day as an injector. Anatomy and safety in the morning, then neurotoxin and filler on live models in the afternoon: glabella, periocular, forehead, marionette lines, lips. 7.75 CNE credits.
- Advanced Injection Training. For injectors ready to move past the basics. Treatment planning, product selection, and the harder areas: masseter, platysmal bands, cheeks, jawline, chin. 7.75 CNE credits.

Laser Training for Medical Professionals and Licensed Aestheticians
You don’t need to have touched a laser before. We teach from zero, and practitioners who arrive with experience still leave with things they hadn’t seen. What differs is not the training but the law: RNs, NPs, PAs, MDs and DOs are typically eligible everywhere, while licensed aestheticians and Med Spa owners are eligible in many states and supervised in others. Check with your state regulatory board before you enroll, or call Admissions and we’ll walk through it with you.
- Comprehensive Laser Training. Three days across the full device range a working practice actually runs. Hair removal is built into this course, not sold back to you as an add-on. 24 CNE credits.
- Laser Hair Removal Training. Three days in the room with live models across the full range of skin types, with the theory portion completed online beforehand at your own pace. More clients ask for this than any other service, and there are not enough trained technicians to go around. 24 CNE credits.
- Laser Tattoo Removal Course. A single day in person, once you’ve worked through the online material. Removal is one of the few aesthetic services where the client queue is longer than the provider list.

Skin and Advanced Treatment Training
- SkinPen Microneedling Training. One focused day on the SkinPen, which was the first microneedling device the FDA cleared. Suited to estheticians, cosmetologists and licensed medical professionals, but check your state first: some allow estheticians to treat with needle-depth limits, others treat deeper work as a medical procedure.
- Chemical Peel and Dermaplaning Training. Peel depth selection and dermaplaning technique, with hands-on practice. Open to licensed estheticians and to RN, BSN, NP, PA, MD, and DO license holders.

Training Near You
ILM began in Skippack, Pennsylvania, and our headquarters there is a working Med Spa, so you train inside a live practice rather than a classroom dressed up to resemble one. We run the same courses in Pittsburgh PA, Manhattan NY, Fairfax VA and Boston MA, so nobody in the Northeast has to cross the region to get trained properly. The class cap and the instructors do not change with the zip code.
Course FAQ
It depends on your license. If you’re a nurse, nurse practitioner, physician associate, dentist or physician, most students start with Essential Injection Training, or take the 2-Day Botox & Filler Training to cover foundational and advanced technique in one visit. If you’re an esthetician or coming from outside medicine, Comprehensive Laser Training is the usual starting point.
For injectables, yes. Those courses are limited to registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates, dentists, doctors and physicians, and proof of credentials is required to enroll. Laser and skin courses are open more widely. What varies is not who can train but who can legally practice afterward, and that depends on your state. Call Admissions and we’ll help you check.
Six to twelve, at every location depending on the course. That cap is the reason you get corrected in the moment rather than watching from the back of a room.
There is no online-only certification at ILM. Some courses, including Laser Hair Removal and Laser Tattoo Removal, have a self-paced online theory portion you complete beforehand, but every course includes in-person hands-on work on live models.
Essential Injection Training and Advanced Injection Training award 7.75 CNE credits each. Taken together as the 2-Day Botox & Filler Training, that’s 15.5. Comprehensive Laser Training and Laser Hair Removal Training award 24 CNE credits.
Our headquarters and primary training facility is in Skippack, Pennsylvania, a working Med Spa. We also run courses in Pittsburgh PA, Manhattan NY, Fairfax VA and Boston MA. The class cap and the instructors are the same at every one.
Live models, in every course. Nothing you treat during training will be silicone.
