ILM teaches this course in 5 cities, and Skippack is the only one of them that is a working med spa rather than hotel conference space. The lasers you train on are the ones the practice uses on its own clients every day, and the instructors are the practitioners who use them. Hair Removal Is Where You Start, Not Where You Stop
Laser hair removal is the most requested laser service in med spas, and it is the foundational modality of the course. You cover patient selection, treatment planning, parameters for each skin type and hair color, and the safety rules. The same 3 days also take you through 4 more modalities. IPL PhotoFacial for melasma, sun damage, and age spots. Non-ablative skin rejuvenation for texture, pores, and collagen. Laser treatment of inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne and of rosacea. Fractional resurfacing, ablative and non-ablative, for scars and deep wrinkles.
Before you arrive you complete the online theory at your own pace: laser physics, how laser energy behaves in tissue, and safety and regulatory requirements, about 6 to 8 hours for most students. In Skippack you spend the 3 days almost entirely on live models with your instructor beside you, and you can be a model yourself if you want to feel each treatment.
