What Fairfax Gets From Skippack
ILM is headquartered in Skippack, Pennsylvania, where it has refined this laser curriculum for nearly 20 years, and the Fairfax class is the Skippack class on the road. Your instructors are ILM’s own: practitioners who perform these treatments on their own clients every day. The clinical-grade lasers and the 6-to-8 cap travel with them, and you work on live models for all 3 days, so nothing about your course is scaled down for Virginia.
What stays in Pennsylvania is the building. The Fairfax class meets in hotel conference space in Fairfax that ILM transforms into its laser classroom for the 3 days. The complimentary shadow day and apprenticeship hours you earn by graduating take place at the Skippack med spa.
Hair Removal Plus 4 More Modalities, in 1 Certification
ILM does not run a hair-removal-only class in Virginia. Laser hair removal is taught as 1 of 5 modalities in the Comprehensive Laser Training. The same 3 days, the same $3,500, and the same 24 CNE credits cover 4 more modalities. Those are PhotoFacial (IPL) for melasma, sun damage, and age spots, non-ablative skin rejuvenation, laser treatment of acne and rosacea, and ablative and non-ablative fractional resurfacing. A client who comes in for hair removal and asks about her melasma is a client you can keep.
You complete the theory online before Fairfax: laser physics, how laser energy interacts with tissue, and safety and regulatory requirements, about 6 to 8 hours for most students. That is why the 3 days in the room are almost entirely hands-on, on live models, with an instructor supervising your settings and technique. Students can also serve as treatment models if they choose.
