The Institute for Laser Medicine teaches its full Comprehensive Laser Training in Pittsburgh, its western Pennsylvania classroom. Classes are capped at 6 to 8 students. Over 3 days you earn 24 CNE credits and treat live models in 5 laser modalities: laser hair removal, PhotoFacial (IPL) for melasma and hyperpigmentation, skin rejuvenation, acne and rosacea treatment, and fractional skin resurfacing. The 5 Modalities, Module by Module
- Laser hair removal. You learn to select patients, plan a course of treatment, set parameters for each skin type and hair color, and follow the safety protocols, then you do it on a live model.
- PhotoFacial (IPL) for melasma and hyperpigmentation. You assess and treat melasma, sun damage, age spots, and rosacea-related discoloration, building each protocol around skin tone, how severe the condition is, and what the client wants.
- Skin rejuvenation. Non-ablative work that stimulates collagen, smooths texture, and shrinks pores, and the physics of wavelength and depth that tell you which laser to pick.
- Acne and rosacea treatment. You learn to tell inflammatory from non-inflammatory presentations, pick parameters for each, and pair laser treatment with other therapies.
- Fractional and skin resurfacing. Ablative and non-ablative fractional methods, scar revision, deep wrinkles, and the aftercare protocols that make resurfacing safe to offer.
The theory is online and self-paced before you arrive: laser physics, tissue interaction, and safety and regulatory requirements, about 6 to 8 hours for most students. Your 3 days in Pittsburgh are then almost entirely hands-on, under an instructor who performs these treatments on clients every day. Students can serve as treatment models during class if they choose.

Where the Pittsburgh Class Meets
The Pittsburgh class meets in a hotel conference room in the Pittsburgh area, and ILM confirms the exact venue in your enrollment materials once you register. ILM brings its clinical-grade lasers, its instructors, and the live-model format from its Skippack, Pennsylvania med spa; the only thing that stays behind is the med spa itself.
Pittsburgh is the closest ILM laser classroom for Allegheny County and the counties around it, and for eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. Skippack, where the course is based and most dates are held, is about 290 miles east, more than 5 hours by car. The complimentary shadow day and apprenticeship hours you earn by graduating take place there, so plan them as a separate trip.
