Sarah trained at ILM in 2018 and is now co-founder and owner of Forte Faces, a medical aesthetic and wellness practice in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. After completing ILM's injectable training she landed her first med spa role, later worked alongside a plastic surgeon, and eventually opened her own practice — which she has now owned for three years. She points to ILM's hands-on, live-model training as what set the program apart from other schools.
"Not only were we able to learn didactic in the classroom, we were able to apply it to a patient directly after… If you're a nurse trying to get away from the bedside or start a career in aesthetics, I highly recommend ILM."
— Sarah, Owner, Forte Faces
Hi, I'm Sarah. I am co-founder and owner at Forte Faces in Conshohocken. Upon my completion of the ILM course, I landed my first job at a med spa. I worked there for several years and then decided I wanted to further my career, so I started working side by side with a plastic surgeon. All of that experience over those years led me to opening my own practice. Forte Faces is a medical aesthetic and wellness practice, and I think what sets us apart is our patient experience and our provider education. One of the things that stood out to me about ILM in comparison to other schools was the hands-on training — not only were we able to learn didactic in the classroom, we were able to apply it to a patient directly after. I took classes at ILM back in 2018. Now it is 2026 and I have been the proud co-owner of Forte Faces for three years. If you're a nurse trying to get away from the bedside or start a career in aesthetics, I highly recommend ILM. Their program has evolved even since I was there in 2018 and now includes shadow days, apprenticeship, and continued support throughout your entire career.

— Rebekah, Owner, Blume House of Aesthetics & Wellness
My name is Rebekah, and I'm the owner of Blume House of Aesthetics and Wellness. Before training with ILM, I was a nurse at a local hospital working in geriatrics. What inspired me to get into aesthetics is the focus on wellness and the individual — building confidence in people. I love it when they come see me and I get to educate them and make them feel more confident about themselves. The reason I chose ILM for my training is that they're well established; they've been around for a long time. They give CEUs for their training, and they have boutique small classes where we get hands-on with one-on-one instructors. The instructors at ILM make class fun. You can tell that they're very passionate about what they do and they love to teach, so it just makes it more enjoyable and you get so much out of it. If you're a nurse considering ILM, I just want to encourage you to get out there and try it. Step away from the bedside. Change doesn't come from a comfortable place — it comes when you are willing to step out and grow.

Why Choose the Institute for Laser Medicine (ILM)?
The aesthetics industry is experiencing extraordinary growth, and nurses with injection skills are in unprecedented demand. Every day, practices and med spas scramble to find qualified professionals who can safely and confidently administer Botox and dermal fillers. If you’re a licensed medical professional, this is your moment to step into a field that rewards expertise, builds patient relationships, and creates genuine career advancement. ILM’s Essential Injection Training is designed specifically for professionals like you who are completely new to injectables. With nearly 20 years of experience in aesthetic education, we’ve refined our approach to deliver exactly what you need: hands-on, live-model training and real-time feedback, not a conference room with plastic mannequins. Our Essential course is your foundation. It covers everything from facial anatomy and cosmetic indications to hands-on practice with premium products under direct expert supervision. When you graduate, you won’t just have a certificate, you’ll have the confidence and skills to begin an injection career immediately.
What You Will Learn in the Essential Injection Course
The Essential Injection course is one intensive day, with the morning devoted to comprehensive theory and the afternoon to hands-on, supervised practice. Your instructors are active practitioners who treat patients every single day. They’re not teaching from outdated textbooks. Instead, you’ll learn the techniques and protocols they use in their own careers right now. During the theory portion, you’ll deep-dive into facial anatomy, the muscles, nerves, and planes that matter most when injecting. You’ll study cosmetic indications and contraindications so you can confidently assess patients and know when an injectable treatment is appropriate. We cover safety protocols extensively because patient safety is non-negotiable. You’ll also learn product preparation, patient assessment strategies, and the psychology of setting realistic expectations. The afternoon is where the real learning accelerates. You’ll practice injection techniques on live models under expert supervision. This is the cornerstone of our program. You’ll treat the glabella (frown lines), periocular area (crow’s feet), frontalis (forehead lines), marionette lines, and lips. You’ll master both neurotoxin and dermal filler techniques using premium products from Merz, Galderma, Revance, and Revanesse, all included at no extra cost. By the time you finish, you’ve injected real patients under real conditions. That builds confidence faster than any simulation ever could.

Who Should Enroll in This Course
This course is built for licensed medical professionals who are completely new to injectables. If you’re a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician associate, dentist, doctor, or physician who wants to build injectable skills, this is your starting point. You don’t need any prior injection experience, we meet you where you are and take you to competence. Proof of credentials is required for enrollment. This isn’t gatekeeping, it’s patient safety. Injectables are advanced medical procedures that require proper licensure and oversight. If you have questions about whether you qualify, reach out to our team. We’re happy to clarify eligibility before you apply.
Why ILM’s Approach to Injection Training Is Different
After nearly 20 years in the aesthetics training industry, we’ve learned what actually works and what doesn’t. We’re one of the longest-running injection training programs in the country, and that experience shows in every detail of our curriculum.
First, our classes are small. We allow no more than 6 students per cohort. That’s intentional. It means you’re never one of 50 people watching a demonstration from the back of a hotel ballroom. Your instructors know your name, your learning pace, and your strengths. They can adjust their teaching in real time to address your specific needs.
Second, our instructors are active practitioners. They don’t teach theory in isolation, they treat patients every single week. When you ask ‘How do you handle a difficult patient?’, they’ve handled one that week. When you ask ‘What’s the best angle for this injection?’, they used that exact angle on a patient yesterday. You’re learning current techniques from people who live in the field, not academics who last practiced five years ago.
Third, you won’t spend the day watching. You’ll be injecting. You’re not practicing on mannequins with pre-marked injection sites. You’re working with real skin, real anatomy, and real tissue response. By the time you leave, you will have performed actual injections across multiple treatment areas. That kind of live patient repetition is what builds the muscle memory and unmatched confidence. You leave knowing how to inject, because you already have.

Post-Graduation Support That Sets You Up for Success
Graduation is not the end of your relationship with ILM, it’s the beginning. Most training programs hand you a certificate and wish you luck. We think about what comes next.
Completing your Essential Injection Training is a strong foundation, and for those ready to go further, our Advanced Injection course is the natural next step. It builds directly on what you’ve learned, deepening your anatomical knowledge, expanding your treatment areas, and sharpening your clinical judgment. Want to compress your learning timeline? Consider bundling with our 2-Day Botox & Filler Training. You’ll earn 15.5 CNE credits over two intensive days and master both essential and advanced techniques in a single program.
For graduates who complete both our Essential and Advanced Injection courses, the path continues with a complimentary shadow day and complimentary apprenticeship hours for post-graduation practice and skill refinement at ILM’s Med Spa in Skippack, PA.
Our Aesthetic Apprentice Program is something different entirely. It’s a mentor-guided, hands-on experience where you work one-on-one with expert trainers, conduct real client consultations, and perform supervised treatments. It’s designed specifically to bridge the gap between training and independent practice, and spots are extremely limited.
Beyond injection training, ILM offers a full range of aesthetic courses, including cosmetic laser, microneedling, PDO threads, chemical peels, and more, so you can continue expanding your scope and earning potential within a single trusted training relationship.
Where Essential Injection Training Is Available
ILM’s home base is in Skippack, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia. That’s where our flagship training facility operates. But we don’t limit students to one location. We believe expert training should be accessible, so we bring our aesthetic courses to multiple markets. Locations include:
- Skippack, PA
- Pittsburgh, PA
- Manhattan, NY
- Fairfax, VA
- Boston, MA
For non-Skippack locations, ILM travels to these markets with our full curriculum and teaching team. You get the same intimate class sizes, the same expert instructors, the same hands-on live-model training, just in a venue closer to home. We carefully select each location to ensure the clinical environment matches our training standards.

No prior injection experience is necessary; we start from the beginning and take you to practical competence.
The Essential Injection course awards 7.75 Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits upon successful completion.
Absolutely, yes. Every student injects real models under direct expert supervision. ILM has used this approach for nearly 20 years because it works. Hands-on practice with live subjects builds muscle memory, confidence, and real clinical judgment far faster than working with mannequins or simulation models.
Premium products from Merz, Galderma, Revance, and Revanesse are included in your course fee at no additional cost. These are the same brands used in leading med spa practices across the country. You’ll work with real products under real clinical conditions, not training-only or diluted formulations. This means your skills transfer immediately to practice.
Our flagship facility is in Skippack, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia. We also bring the Essential Injection course to Pittsburgh, Manhattan/New York, Fairfax/Virginia, and Boston/Massachusetts. ILM travels to these markets with our complete curriculum and teaching team, so you receive the same intimate, hands-on experience regardless of location.
You receive your certificate of completion and 7.75 CNE credits. But that’s just the start. Many graduates bundle both courses back-to-back for exactly that reason. Those who complete both Essential and Advanced Injection training gain access to a complimentary shadow day and complimentary apprenticeship hours for post-graduation practice and skill refinement at ILM’s MedSpa in Skippack, PA. Beyond injections, ILM also offers a full range of aesthetic courses, including cosmetic laser, microneedling, PDO threads, chemical peels, and more. Whatever path you choose, we remain available for mentorship and guidance.
We bring nearly 20 years of experience, which matters enormously. We limit class sizes to 6 students or fewer for personalized attention. Training is hands-on with live models. Our instructors are active practitioners who treat patients daily, not academic instructors. And crucially, we provide post-graduation support, apprenticeship hours, and shadow days that most programs don’t offer. We’re genuinely committed to your success beyond graduation day.

Why Choose the Institute for Laser Medicine (ILM)?
Laser treatments are one of the fastest-growing segments in medical aesthetics, and qualified laser practitioners are in high demand. ILM’s Comprehensive Laser Training is a 3-day, immersive certification course that covers five distinct laser modalities, from laser hair removal to fractional skin resurfacing. With 24 CNE credits and nearly 20 years of curriculum development behind it, this is one of the most thorough laser training programs available in the country.
Every technique is practiced on live models under expert supervision. Whether you’re an RN, NP, aesthetician, or Med Spa owner, this program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and hands-on skills to confidently perform laser treatments. Laser hair removal training is included within this comprehensive course; it’s not a separate offering. This integrated approach ensures you understand how laser hair removal fits into the broader spectrum of laser-based aesthetic medicine.

Five Laser Modalities Covered in Three Intensive Days
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is the most requested laser service in Med Spas nationwide, making it an essential skill for any aesthetician or medical professional looking to expand their practice. In this module, you’ll master patient selection criteria, develop comprehensive treatment plans, understand parameter settings for different skin types and hair colors, and implement critical safety protocols. Hands-on practice on live models ensures you’re ready to treat clients in clinical practice. This foundational laser modality is covered in depth as an integral part of ILM’s comprehensive curriculum.
PhotoFacial (IPL) — Melasma and Hyperpigmentation
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy represents one of the most versatile tools in the laser practitioner’s arsenal. You’ll learn to diagnose and treat a range of pigmentation disorders, including melasma, sun damage, age spots, and rosacea-related discoloration. This module emphasizes patient assessment techniques and the development of customized treatment protocols based on skin tone, condition severity, and individual client goals. PhotoFacial treatments deliver visible results that keep clients coming back, making this a profitable addition to any aesthetic practice.
Skin Rejuvenation
Beyond treating specific conditions, lasers are powerful tools for overall skin improvement and renewal. You’ll explore non-ablative laser treatments designed to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, minimize pore size, and restore a youthful glow. Understanding how different laser wavelengths interact with skin at varying depths allows you to select the right treatment for each client’s unique concerns. This module covers treatment protocols for different skin types and conditions, ensuring you can safely and effectively rejuvenate diverse client populations.
Acne and Rosacea Treatment
Laser technology offers game-changing solutions for clients struggling with persistent acne or rosacea. You’ll learn to distinguish between inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions, select appropriate laser parameters for each, and understand the science behind how specific wavelengths reduce bacteria and inflammation. This module also covers how to integrate laser treatments with other therapeutic modalities for optimized outcomes. For many clients, laser-based acne and rosacea management represents a turning point in their struggle with these frustrating conditions.
Fractional and Skin Resurfacing
Fractional laser technology represents the most advanced modality in the course, and arguably the most transformative. Fractional treatments work by creating controlled micro-injuries that trigger the skin’s natural healing response, stimulating deep collagen remodeling. You’ll master both ablative and non-ablative fractional approaches, scar revision techniques, deep wrinkle treatment, and comprehensive skin renewal protocols. Because fractional resurfacing requires careful attention to safety, post-treatment protocols, and realistic client expectations, this module emphasizes hands-on practice and real-world application. Fractional treatments command premium pricing and deliver dramatic results that differentiate your reputation.
Course Format: Online Theory Plus In-Person Mastery
ILM’s hybrid training format is specifically designed to maximize your learning and hands-on skill development. Before you step foot in the classroom, you’ll complete pre-course online theory modules at your own pace. These modules cover laser physics fundamentals, tissue interaction principles, and safety and regulatory requirements.
When you arrive for the 3-day in-person intensive, you’re already grounded in the science. This means your time with instructors and equipment is dedicated almost entirely to hands-on practice. You’ll work directly with professional-grade laser equipment on live models, receiving real-time feedback and guidance from practitioners who use these exact tools every day in their own clinical work. This is not a course where you watch demonstrations from a distance; it’s an immersive training where you’re performing treatments under supervision from day one.

Who Should Enroll
ILM’s Comprehensive Laser Training is ideal for both medical professionals and aestheticians seeking to expand their skill set and earning potential. If you’re an RN, NP, PA, doctor, dentist, or physician looking to add laser services to your existing practice, this course accelerates your timeline to profitability. Licensed aestheticians can dramatically expand their service offerings and command higher income with laser certifications. Med Spa owners benefit from the ability to offer laser treatments in-house, improving client retention and average ticket value.
No prior laser experience is required. The curriculum is built to be accessible to beginners while still challenging for more experienced practitioners. Eligibility varies by state and licensing category; some states allow aestheticians to perform certain laser treatments independently, while others require supervision by a licensed medical professional. ILM recommends contacting your state regulatory agency to confirm your eligibility before enrolling.
Why ILM’s Laser Training Stands Apart
Nearly 20 years of curriculum development and refinement place ILM at the forefront of laser training in the Northeast. Our instructors aren’t academics or salespeople, they’re active laser practitioners who perform these treatments daily. This real-world expertise ensures every lesson reflects current clinical best practices and the actual challenges you’ll face when treating clients.
Hands-on practice distinguishes ILM’s program from competitors. Throughout all 3 days, you’re practicing on live models, not just watching demonstrations. Class sizes are intentionally kept small (6-8 students) to ensure every student receives direct supervision and adequate equipment time. You’re not competing with 40 other students for access to one laser; you’re in an intimate learning environment where instructors can observe your technique and provide immediate, personalized feedback.
The training environment itself is a professional Med Spa with clinical-grade equipment, the same technology you’ll use in the field. You’re not training on educational simulators or outdated machines; you’re learning on the real tools of modern aesthetic medicine. This authenticity accelerates your learning curve and ensures you’re ready to transition directly into clinical work.
ILM graduates receive 24 CNE credits, more than most competing programs, meeting state board requirements across PA, NY, NJ, VA, and MA. Beyond the formal training, graduates enjoy complimentary apprenticeship hours and a complimentary shadow day at ILM’s Med Spa in Skippack, PA, which provides ongoing mentorship and the opportunity to observe how these techniques translate to a fully operational practice. As a bonus, students can serve as treatment models during training, experiencing firsthand what clients feel during their own treatments. Want to hear directly from past students? Frequently Asked Questions About Comprehensive Laser Training
Yes, absolutely. Laser hair removal is one of five core modalities covered throughout this comprehensive course. It’s not offered as a separate training program. Rather, laser hair removal is integrated into the broader curriculum alongside PhotoFacial, skin rejuvenation, acne and rosacea treatment, and fractional resurfacing. This integrated approach ensures you understand how hair removal fits into the complete spectrum of laser-based aesthetic medicine and helps you recommend the most appropriate treatments for each client.
The Comprehensive Laser Training course provides 24 CNE credits, exceeding the requirements for continuing education in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Massachusetts. No. The course is designed to be accessible to beginners with no laser background. The pre-course online modules establish foundational knowledge in laser physics and tissue interaction, and the 3-day in-person training builds from basic techniques to advanced protocols. Experienced practitioners also benefit from the program’s depth and the opportunity to refine their skills under expert guidance.
Both medical professionals and licensed aestheticians may be eligible, depending on your state’s regulatory requirements. Requirements vary significantly. Some states allow aestheticians to independently perform certain laser treatments, while others require medical supervision. RNs, NPs, PAs, MDs, and DOs are typically eligible in all states. Before enrolling, verify eligibility with your state regulatory board or contact ILM’s enrollment team for guidance specific to your situation.
The 3 in-person training days are primarily hands-on. This authenticity means you’ll be confident and competent.

Prerequisites: Who This Course Is Designed For
This advanced course is designed for licensed medical professionals who have already completed foundational injection training. You must be a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician associate, dentist, doctor, or physician to enroll. Proof of credentials is required.
Completion of a beginner or essential injection course is required, either ILM’s Essential Injection Training or an equivalent program. This is not a beginner course, and students should have foundational knowledge of injection techniques before attending.
Short on time? The 2-Day Botox & Filler Training bundles Essential + Advanced back-to-back for 15.5 CNE credits total, giving you both certifications in a single two-day intensive session.
The ILM Difference: Why Advanced Training Matters More Than You Think
Nearly 20 years of refining advanced injection curricula means ILM has trained thousands of practitioners. At the advanced level, technique precision is everything, and that’s why ILM keeps class sizes small (6 students max) so instructors can observe and correct your approach in real time, ensuring you’re building the muscle memory and clinical judgment needed for complex cases.
Your instructors are active practitioners who perform these exact treatments on patients every single week. They teach from current clinical experience, not outdated textbooks, which means you’ll learn the techniques and workflows that actually work in a real aesthetic practice.
Training on live models means you’ll feel real tissue resistance, observe actual anatomical variation between individuals, and practice adapting your approach to each patient, something you can’t learn from cadavers or mannequins.
Emphasis on safety is paramount at the advanced level. Masseters and platysmal bands require precise understanding of anatomy to avoid complications, and ILM’s curriculum reflects the clinical discipline needed when treating these sensitive areas.
